GREENWOOD, Indiana - Junior Ashleigh Burton has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.

Burton Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard tallied 48 kills and a .393 attack percentage in leading the Earlham College volleyball team to a 2-1 record and its first HCAC victory in school history last week.

Burton bolstered the Quaker offense to the tune of tying a career-high for kills in a match with 22 and hitting a .559 clip in Earlham's four-set win over Cincinnati Christian University on Thursday. After a 14-kill performance in a loss at Saint Mary's College on Friday evening, Burton provided 10 kills, five assists and two blocks as Earlham came from two sets down to defeat Manchester University 3-2 on Saturday. The win snapped a 63-match conference losing streak.

For the week, Burton averaged 4.36 kills per set.

Earlham (13-5, 1-0 HCAC) hosts Defiance College on Wednesday and Franklin College on Saturday.
