RICHMOND, Indiana – Earlham College baseball senior Eric Elkus has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for games played from March 13-19.
Elkus, who recently was named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Hitter of the Week for the second consecutive week, carried a .600 batting average while driving in 13 runs in leading Earlham to a 3-1 record last week.
In the Quakers' lone loss of the week (20-14 to Heidelberg), Elkus drove in four runs on two doubles while scoring three runs. The Edgewood, Kentucky, native followed up that performance by tallying seven hits and one home run in Earlham's three-game sweep of Wilmington. In game two of that series, Elkus drove in six RBIs.
In total, Elkus tallied nine hits including five extra base hits, drove in 13 runs, and had a 1.067 slugging percentage.
Earlham hosts Wittenberg University for a 4 p.m. game at Sadler Stadium on Wednesday before opening HCAC play at defending HCAC champion Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology this weekend.
