RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College men's basketball team opens the final week of the 2016-17 regular season by traveling to Bluffton University for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Teams: Earlham and Bluffton. The Quakers are 6-17 this season after a 66-53 loss at Hanover College on Wednesday. The Beavers are 12-11 overall, but have lost their last two contests including a 98-72 defeat at the hands of Anderson University on Saturday.
The Coaches: Earlham is under the direction of third-year head coach Jason Polykoff. An alumnus of Haverford College, Polykoff came to Earlham from Penn, where he served as an assistant coach. He also won four state championships at Friends' Central High School in Wynnewood, Pa. Guy Neal, one of the veteran coaches in the HCAC, returns for his 28th season on the Bluffton sidelines.
The Players: Sophomore Darrell Hutchison leads the Quakers in scoring at 14.9 points per game and is second on the squad in rebounds per game at 3.7. Junior Elijah Wilson-Thomas, who has scored over 20 points in three of his last five games, scores 11.6 points per game. A trio of Quakers, senior Kamari Hunter, sophomore Nick Sands, and freshman Blake Bonin, all average over six points per game with Bonin dishing out three assists per game. Freshman Tarig Eldosougi grabs 3.8 boards per game while averaging just over 11 minutes per game. Austin Rohde leads the Beavers and is second in the HCAC in scoring at 20.1 points per game. Jared Wentling scores 14 points per game as well as leading Bluffton in rebounding at 7.3 per contest.
