RICHMOND, Ind. - Men's basketball earns their first conference win 86-52 in a matchup with Manchester.
The defense was tenacious in flocking to the ball suppressing Manchester's top scorers at all distances. At the net, Earlham blocked four shots. They held Manchester below their season average in shooting and forced 17 turnovers from the Spartans.
Earlham's offense was on fire, and their momentum began with Qawi Rucker. In the first half he scored six of his 12 total points and two tallied assists. Jamel Barnes and Darrell Hutchison joined in on the action. Hutchinson scored a team leading 20 points, going 10-16 from field-goal range. Barnes was 1-6 from three, 6-13 from field-goal range and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.
Coming into the game there was a thought that there would be a lot of uneven matchups because Manchester had a size advantage but Earlham was able to get the ball to the post to give Earlham an advantage.
Earlham returns home on December 15 to face off with Mount St. Joe at 5:00pm
