INDIANAPOLIS – Earlham College first year Garrett Schuler is tied for sixth overall at the halfway point of the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship, following the completion of the second round on Sunday at The Fort Golf Resort.
Schuler fired a five-over 77 on the par 72, 6,791-yard The Fort course on Sunday, giving him a 152 (+8) through 36 holes in the championship. He is in a group of four golfers tied for sixth.
Sophomore Nate Mynatt is also among the top 20 on the individual leaderboard, after carding a 77 on Sunday. He has a two-day total of 155 (+11), and is among a group of five golfers tied for 13th.
Sophomore Graham Sherard jumped three places on Sunday and is tied for 22nd after two rounds, following his four-over 76 in the second round – a five-stroke improvement over his Saturday round at The Fort. He has a 157 (+13) for the tournament.
Sophomore Patrick Wright matched his Saturday effort with an 84 on Sunday, and is tied for 34th with a 168 (+24). First year Brevin Smith is seven strokes back in 38th place with a 175 (+31), after carding an 89 on Sunday.
Earlham is sixth on the team leaderboard with a 632 (+56), after shooting a 314 (+26) on Sunday – four shots better than the Quakers' Saturday round. Transylvania sits atop the team leaderboard with a 588 (+12) through 36 holes, after firing a 296 (+8) on Sunday. Mount St. Joseph (611, +35) is second followed by Hanover College (613, +37) in third place.
Transy's Spencer McKinney held onto the top spot on the individual leaderboard after carding a one-under 71 for the second straight round, giving him a two-under 142 through 36 holes.
The HCAC Men's Golf Championship will resume play on Saturday, May 5, 2018, when play shifts to Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance, Ohio, for the final 36 holes.
