RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College men's soccer team hosts the College of Wooster in a 3:30 p.m. contest at Matlack-Messer Stadium on Saturday.
The Teams: Earlham and Wooster. The Quakers are in search of their first win of the 2017 season after losses at Wabash 4-1 and to Indiana University East 3-0 at home last week. The Fighting Scots are 3-2 this season after splitting a pair of games in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area last weekend.
The Coaches: Sam Byrd enters his third season as head men's soccer coach at his alma mater. The 2003 alumnus, who led the Quakers to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament berth in 2015, served as an assistant coach for longtime head coach Roy Messer for two seasons prior to being promoted to head coach in May of 2015. Andy Zidron, who won two North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament titles as an assistant at Denison University, enters his third year as head coach at Wooster.
The Players: Senior Vojislav Tatarevic and freshman Drew Fitzgibbon have scored Earlham's two goals this season. Junior Yuki Adams has fired a team-high eight shots. Andrew Klein and Manny Burton have both scored two goals for Wooster. Goalkeeper Will Collis has a 0.60 goals against average.
Old Conference Rivals: Wooster has been a member of the NCAC since the conference formed prior to the 1984-85 season. Earlham was an NCAC member from 1989-2009.
Recent History: Earlham is 2-4 against Wooster since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Quakers have won the last two meetings, however, both in 2-1 fashion.
