RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College men's soccer team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play when the Quakers travel to Anderson University for a 3:30 p.m. contest on Saturday.
The Teams: Earlham and Anderson. The Quakers currently sit in fourth place in the HCAC with a 2-1-1 record after a 1-0 win over Defiance College on Wednesday. The Ravens are 7-6-1 overall and 2-2-0 in conference after falling 2-1 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Wednesday.
The Coaches: Sam Byrd enters his third season as head men's soccer coach at his alma mater. The 2003 alumnus, who led the Quakers to the HCAC Tournament berth in 2015, served as an assistant coach for longtime head coach Roy Messer for two seasons prior to being promoted to head coach in May of 2015. Scott Fridley has been Anderson's head men's soccer coach since 1990.
The Players: Earlham has scored 11 goals from five different players this season. Seniors Nicholas Dey and Vojislav Tatarevic have both found the back of the net three times while sophomore Micah Roland, and freshman Drew Fitzgibbon have both scored twice. Junior Yuki Adams netted the first goal of his collegiate career in the Quakers' 1-0 win over Defiance. Jacob Pokorski has been involved in 13 of Anderson's 22 goals as he has netted four goals for the Ravens and assisted on nine others.
Recent History: Earlham is 1-5-1 against Anderson since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Ravens won 2-0 in Richmond last season, but the Quakers pulled out a 3-0 victory the last time the two teams played in Anderson (2015 campaign).
