RICHMOND, Indiana - The Earlham College men's tennis team won its ninth consecutive match on Wednesday, defeating Defiance College 8-1 at the Earlham Tennis Courts.
Juniors Vitalii Stadnyk and Vojislav Tatarevic improved to 9-4 at first doubles with an 8-6 triumph over James Demeo and Adam Swisher. The Quakers won second and third doubles handily as freshmen Fernando Bulnes Aramburu and Joaquin Lerner won second doubles 8-1 while sophomore Nicola Manni and freshman Aleksandr Sergeev won third doubles without surrendering a game.
In singles, Sergeev, Manni, and Lerner won fourth, fifth, and sixth singles respectively losing just one or less games. Stadnyk took down Demeo 6-3, 6-0 at first singles while Bulnes Aramburu won his 13th match of the season win a straight-set win at third singles.
Defiance's lone win came at second singles when Adam Swisher defeated sophomore Adarsh Singh 6-4, 6-3.
With the win, the Quakers improve to 14-5 overall and a perfect 5-0 in HCAC competition. Earlham hosts Franklin College and Indiana Institute of Technology on Sunday.
