Men's Tennis Wins in Fall Season Opener

RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 9-0 sweep of the University of Miami Middletown on Friday afternoon.

The sophomore duo of Joaquin Lerner and Jason Lawson got the Quakers off to a quick start taking the second doubles 8-2. Senior Vitalii Stadnyk and sophomore Aleksandr Sergeev followed suit with an 8-0 victory at the top of the lineup. Sophomore Karun Rathi and freshman Hyunseong Ahn completed the sweep with an 8-1 victory at third doubles.

In singles, Stadnyk, sophomore Fernando Bulnes Aramburu and freshman Brandon Giordanelli only dropped one game en route to victory at first, second and fourth singles respectively. Lerner and Rathi both held their opponent without a game at third and sixth singles. Lawson closed out the sweep at fifth singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

The Quakers will be back in action this Sunday with a doubleheader against Trine University and Indiana Institute of Technology.
