RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College sophomore Aleksandr Sergeev, who won the two toughest matches of the day in the Quakers' victory over Ohio Northern last week, was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday, for the week ending April 1, 2018.
Sergeev helped post a win at no. 2 doubles and was victorious at no. 2 singles to lead Earlham to an 8-1 triumph over Ohio Northern. Pairing up with Jason Lawson, the duo posted a 9-8 (7-5) win in doubles play. Sergeev then came back with a 7-5, 6-3 win at no. 2 singles.
The win over Ohio Northern was the seventh-straight win for Earlham men's tennis, who improved to 12-3 on the season.
The Quakers have a busy week ahead with matches against Thomas More College (Wednesday, April 4), Hanover College (Thursday, April 5), and both Manchester University and Taylor University (Saturday, April 7).
