Men’s tennis splits matches against Thomas More, Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, OHIO – Earlham College men's tennis split a pair of road matches on Saturday, falling to Ohio Wesleyan University by a 6-3 score, before dispatching Thomas More College by the same 6-3 count in matches played at Ohio Wesleyan

AGAINST THE OHIO WESLEYAN BATTLING BISHOPS

Earlham picked up a single point out of the three doubles matches, as Joaquin Lerner and Aitor Zerdilas-Herrera teamed up for an 8-3 triumph over the Ohio Wesleyan tandem of Miller Buckholtz and Ryan Simon at no. 3 doubles.

Aleksandr Seergeev and Lerner also picked up points for the Quakers with their victories in singles play. Sergeev notched a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at no. 2 singles over OWU's Omar Santiagonunez, while Lerner charted a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 victory at no. 6 singles over Simon.

AGAINST THE THOMAS MORE SAINTS

Earlham salvaged the split with the win over Thomas More, starting with a three-match sweep in doubles play. Jason Lawson and Zerdilas-Herrera had the most lop-sided victory in doubles play with their 8-2 win at no. 3 doubles over the Saints' Ethan Caruso and Jaret Fidler.

The Quakers completed the team victory with wins at no. 1, no. 2, and no. 4 singles, all by straight-sets. Adarsh Singh chalked up a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jared Haught at no. 4 singles for Earlham's most convincing singles win of the the day.
