Men’s tennis trounces John Carroll, 9-0, in non-conference action

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Earlham College men's tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over four-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion John Carroll University, on Sunday morning at Denison University.

The Blue Streaks captured the OAC championship in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. JCU entered Sunday's match with a 2-8 record, but three of the losses were to NCAA Division II institutions and two others were against NAIA programs.

AGAINST THE BLUE STREAKS

The Quakers took victories out of all three doubles matches, with Aitor Zerdilas-Herrera and Aleksandr Sergeev having the easiest time of it at no. 1 doubles with a 8-4 win over JCU's Andy Sciliano and Doug Moore.

Earlham won all six singles matches by straight-sets, with Zerdilas-Herrera (no. 1 singles) and Joaquin Lerner (no. 5 singles) both dropping just two games each in their victories.

Earlham men's tennis has a light week ahead with just one match on the schedule. The Quakers will play host to Defiance College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Wednesday, April 10, at 4:30 p.m. on the EC Tennis Courts.
