DELAWARE, Ohio – The Earlham College men's cross country team took 19th place at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday morning.
The finish was a 13-spot improve from 2016 when the Quakers took 32nd place in a regional at Hope College.
Gabriel Penk led the way for the Quakers individually with a 29th place finish by finishing the 8-kilometer race in 26:13.3. The finish earned Penk Great Lakes All-Region honors.
Noah Scherf (27:30.1) and Nate Papachristos (27:30.5) were the next Earlham runners to cross the finish line doing so in 100th and 101st place respectively. Bineyam Tumbo 20 seconds behind Papachristos in 120th place.
Earlham finished the meet with 518 points to finish as the third highest Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) finisher. Calvin College won the regional with a team score of 61 points.
