DECATUR, Ill. – Earlham College men's cross country placed four of its five scoring runners within the top 20 and ran to a fifth place finish at the H.W. Wright Classic 8K, Friday evening at Millikin University.
Bineyam Tumbo was the top Earlham individual finisher in fifth place with a time of 26:49.6.
Austin Burt, Cade Orchard, and Noah Scherf crossed the finish line in 13th, 14th, and 15th place respectively. Burt posted a time o 27:17, while Orchard kept pace at 27:21, and Scherf finished I 27:23.
Nate Papachristos rounded out the scoring runners for the Quakers in 23rd place with a time of 28:02.
Earlham tallied 70 points to finish third in the event, with Rose-Hulman winning the meet with 37 points. William Woods was second place with 50 points. The host squad from Millikin was right behind Earlham in fourth place with 78 points.
Rose-Hulman's Matthew Stevenot won the meet with a time of 25:48.7, nearly 13 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.
Earlham cross country is idle next week, and returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 13, when it travels to Oberlin College to compete in the InterRegional Rumble.
