RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's golf team plays in its first tournament as a varsity program this weekend at the Anderson Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. Play will begin at noon on Saturday and at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
The Teams: Earlham, Anderson, Manchester, Mount St. Joseph, and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
The Coach: Earlham is under the direction of first-year head coach Matt Gehring. A graduate of Defiance College, Gehring spent the previous four seasons as head women's golf coach and assistant men's golf coach at his alma mater.
The Players: Earlham will bring a roster of three freshman to its season-opening tournament. Freshman Aaron Monroe, a native of Grand Blanc, Mich., and a member of the inaugural girls' golf team at Goodrich High School, will play No. 1 for the Quakers. Freshman Hannah Toresdahl will play No. 2 for Earlham. Toresdahl played at Dowling Catholic High School (Iowa), a state powerhouse in women's golf. Emma Wilkins, an accomplished golfer at Brownsburg High School as a senior, will play No. 3. She was a part of a sectional championship as a senior.
