RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's golf team opens its 2017-18 season at the Beaver Fall Classic hosted by Bluffton University on Friday and Saturday.
The Classic: Earlham will compete head-to-head with Bluffton, which is sponsoring women's golf at the varsity level for the first time since the 2003-04 academic year. The first round will be held on Friday, Sept. 1, with the final round on the follow day.
The Courses: Hidden Creek Golf Course (Lima, Ohio) will serve as host for the classic's first round on Saturday and will play a 5,801 yards with a par of 72. The squads will then move to Bluffton Golf Course for Sunday's final round. The course will play at 5,818 yards and a par of 72.
The Coach: Earlham is under the direction of second-year head coach Matt Gehring. A graduate of Defiance College, Gehring spent the previous four seasons as head women's golf coach and assistant men's golf coach at his alma mater.
The Players: Sophomore Hannah Toresdahl led the Quakers last season as she averaged 88.52 strokes per round with a low round of 74 at the Saint Francis Invitational. Sophomore Aaron Monroe carded an average round of just over 95 strokes. Sophomores Emma Wilkins and Maya Panicker also return to the program.
