THE SHORT STORY: Earlham College women's golf completed Sunday's first round of the Transylvania Spring Invitational in sixth place with a 460, on the par 72, 5,825-yard Greenbrier Country Club.

OFF THE TEE

  • The Earlham team of four golfers finished the opening round in sixth place out of six teams in the event. The University of Pikeville leads the field with a 321 (+33), 12 strokes ahead of second-place Transylvania.
  • Sophomore Megan Garner is the top Earlham golfer on the individual leaderboard, with a 96 (+24). Pikeville's Boo Newsome leads the field of 33 golfers with a one-over 73.
