RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's soccer team concludes its 2017 season with a trip to Manchester University on Saturday. Kickoff for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contest is slated for 1 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Manchester. The Quakers are 6-10-1 overall and 2-5-1 in HCAC play after earning a 2-2 draw with Transylvania University on Wednesday. The Spartans are 1-14-1 and 1-6-1 in the conference but won their last time out as Manchester edged Bluffton University 2-1 on Wednesday.
The Coaches: Chad Hardin is in his second year as Earlham's head women's soccer coach. He previously achieved a 43-42-5 record in five seasons at Marian University under Hardin after a 6-27-2 mark the previous two seasons. Christine Johnson is in her second season as Manchester's head women's soccer coach.
The Players: A trio of freshmen lead Earlham offensively. Freshman Chloe Lamenzo has scored nine goals and dished out five assists for 23 points while freshman Yana Miller has also scored nine goals and freshman Jordan Blackburne found the back of the net six times. Freshman Hailey Beel leads the squad in assists with seven. Sophomore goalkeeper Sari Stissi has a 1.73 goals against average and has three shutouts on the season. Three of Manchester's 10 goals on the season have come off the foot of Maranda Birmingham.
Youth Movement: Earlham's top four offensive producers are all freshmen. Furthermore, 83 of 102 offensive points have come from first-years.
Recent History: Earlham is 3-4-1 against Manchester since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Spartans have won the last two meetings, however, both by a single goal.
