Women's Tennis Drops Matches to MIAA Opponents

ANGOLA, Ind./ADRIAN, Mich. – The Earlham College women's tennis team fell to a pair of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foes on Sunday, dropping matches to Trine University 9-0 and Adrian College 8-1.

In the loss to Trine, junior Lexi Aligarbes and sophomore Chloe Culler fell to Kinnsey Pass and Kristin Riise 8-2 at second doubles. The Thunder won first and third doubles 8-0.

In singles, sophomore Robyn Thomas lost her sixth singles match to Abby Hoge 6-3, 6-3. Junior Arrita Domi took three games in the first set of her first singles match while Aligarbes scored a game at third singles. Culler and junior Ziqi Wang won two games at fourth and fifth singles respectively.

In the loss to Adrian, Aligarbes and Culler took three games at second doubles. Similar to the Trine match, Adrian took first and third doubles 8-0.

Culler picked up her first victory of the season defeating Samantha Cyrus 6-4, 6-4 at fourth singles. Thomas lost to Mikayla Herig 6-1, 6-4 at sixth singles.

The Quakers open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play at defending champion Hanover College on Wednesday, Sept. 14. First serve is slated for 4:30 p.m.
