Thomas Wins Singles Match in Women's Tennis Loss to Indiana Tech

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Earlham College women's tennis team took an 8­-1 loss to Indiana Institute of Technology at the EC Courts on Monday afternoon.

Quaker juniors Arrita Domi and Lexi Aligarbes took a loss to Warriors' Barbara de Oliveira and Anabell Cordero 8-­1 at first doubles. Sophomore Chloe Culler and junior Ziqi Wang also fell to Indiana Tech students Raquel Manzoni and Kassidy Hawk 8-0 at second doubles while sophomores Megan Howell and Wei­Yung Liu followed suit and lost to Warriors Hannah Dodd and Helen Wourms at the same score at third doubles.

In singles, Domi dropped her match at 6-­1, 6-­0 to Manzoni at first singles. Aligarbes took a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Cordero and Culler had the same turnout with Barbara de Oliveira at third singles. Wang fought throughout the match, but managed a 6-­2, 6-­1 score to Kassidy Hawk at fourth singles while Liu played a 6-­0, 6-­2 match against Dodd.

Earlham's only win was Sophomore Robyn Thomas as she pulled out a 6-­4, 6­-3 victory over Wourms at sixth singles.

Earlham returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 4:30pm against Transylvania University.
