ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Earlham College women's tennis team recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a 9-0 shutout over Muskingum University, in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon at Zanesville High School.
The Quakers took two of the three doubles matches by 8-0 scores, and Earlham was equally dominant in singles play. Two players – Anna Hahn at no. 1 singles and Ari Sanchez at no. 3 singles – both won by 6-0, 6-0 scores, while both Yunjoo Shin (no. 2 singles) and Tsitsi Makufa (no. 5 singles) had one 6-0 win among their two set.
The toughest challenge of the day came at no. 6 singles, where Zijia Liu eventually knocked off Muskingum's Mackenzie Simmons, 6-3, 6-3.
Earlham women's tennis has three matches on tap for this week, starting with a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road clash with Defiance College on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 4:30 p.m.
