Women’s tennis takes down Defiance for third straight win

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Sophomore Kathryn Hulleman's three-set victory at no. 5 singles lifted Earlham College women's tennis to a 5-4 win over Defiance College, in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday at the Dix Tennis Facility.

Hulleman won the decisive third set, 6-1, after winning the first set, 7-5, and dropping set two, 6-2.

Anna Hahn (no. 1 singles) and Alexandra Swank (no. 6 singles) posted Earlham's other two wins in singles play. Hahn won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, while Swank notched in lopsided fashion, 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles play, Hahn and Yunjoo Shin recorded an 8-5 win at no. 1 doubles, while the no. 3 doubles tandem of Swank and Abby Stewart triumphed 8-2.

Earlham women's tennis returns to action on Friday, Sept. 29, when the Quakers travel to Capital University. Start time for the match is 4:00 p.m.
