Shawn Hyden enters his second season as head men's and women's tennis coach at Earlham College in 2017-18.

Hyden led the men's tennis team to its seventh consecutive appearance in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament after Earlham finished the regular season in second place. Hyden's Quakers finished the 2017 HCAC Tournament as runners up.

Hyden came to Earlham from Arcadia University (Pennsylvania) where he headed the men's and women's tennis programs since 2014. The 2016 Arcadia men's team broke the single season record for wins with 11 as well as earning a berth in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Tournament championship match. He coached six All-MAC student-athletes at Arcadia.

Prior to Arcadia, Hyden spent three seasons as an assistant men's and women's tennis coach at his alma mater, Mount Union College. The Purple Raiders finished in the top half of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) every season in that span (2011-14). The women's program went 40-16, advanced to the OAC semifinals in each of his three seasons and totaled 10 all-conference selections, while the men's program was 38-20 and advanced to the OAC semifinals in 2013 and had four all-conference selections.

A United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) certified tennis professional, Hyden graduated from Mount Union in 2006 with a degree in political science. He was a four-year member of the men's tennis team and served as team captain his senior year. Hyden later earned a master's of applied politics from the University of Akron in 2009.

He resides in Richmond.
