BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Earlham College cross country teams competed at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Indiana University after a brief lightning delay on Friday.
The men's team placed 12th out of 15 teams in the Little State meet, which consisted of all non-NCAA Division I institutions. The Quakers tallied 372 points as a team, finishing three points ahead of Hundington University. Wabash College won the meet with a team score of 39 points.
Individually, senior Gabriel Penk finished as the top Quaker in 28th place. The Portland, Ore., native ran the eight-kilometer course in 28:00.73. Sophomore Daniel Kibet was next to cross the finish line for Earlham in 80th place with a time of 30:13.90.
On the women's side, Earlham finished in 13th place with 365 team points. DePauw University won the meet with 49 team points.
The Quakers will race again on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Earlham Invitational on campus.
