RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College cross country team welcomes four teams to campus for the 30th annual Earlham Invitational on Saturday.
The Teams: Earlham, Anderson University, Indiana University East, Indiana University Northwest, and Wabash College (men only) will race at the meet.
The Coaches: Earlham is led by a pair of first-year, co-head coaches. Claire Hewitt comes to Earlham from the University of Pennsylvania where she served as an assistant women's cross country coach while her husband Rob had been a high school cross country and track & field coach at national powerhouse Germantown Friends High School (Pa.) since 2004.
The Players: Senior Kellan Steele led the women's finishers at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships running the five-kilometer race in 22:58.85 for 70th place. Sophomore Rachel Wilkins finished six seconds behind. On the men's side, senior Gabriel Penkfinished 28thdd at the championships hosted by Indiana University two weeks ago. The Portland, Ore., native rank the eight-kilometer race in 28:00.73.
2015 Earlham Invitational: The women finished second and the men finished third last year. Then-senior Mackenzie Hepburn finished second individually.
