Bill Stout was a four-sport athlete at Earlham College with most of his success coming in track. In 1969 he set the school track record for the 800-meter run that still stands today: 1:53.74.

Stout lettered four years in track and he was on two cross country teams, while also playing a season of football. In 1968, Stout was a member of the men’s soccer team that finished 11-1-4. He also served as president of the E-Club.
