    Special Recognition

Bill Thornell received special recognition from the Earlham Athletics Hall of Fame for his service as a student manager for the Quaker football, basketball and track teams. A four-year member of the E-Men’s Club and the Ionian Society, he received the George Van Dyke Sports Achievement Award in 1955. Thornell was a great friend to the Earlham student-athletes of the mid-1950s and has continued his support of Quaker athletics through the years. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in economics from Earlham, he earned an MBA in finance from Indiana University. Thornell worked for Indiana National Bank from 1959 to 1996 and served as assistant vice president for 17 years. His civic activities included being a Board of Director member of the Crossroads Rehabilitation Center and Damar Homes, Inc.
