Chad Wertman enjoyed a successful career throwing shot put for the Earlham track and field team. A four-time NCAC Champion in the event, Wertman earned a 10th-place finish in the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
Throughout his tenure with the Quakers, Wertman was named all-conference eight times (6 NCAC, 2 HCAC) and Field Athlete of the Week six times (3 HCAC, 3 NCAC). He was also selected to the NCAC 30th Anniversary All-Decade Indoor Track and Field Team for the shot put.
In 2011, Chad earned the Earlham College George VanDyke Award, as well as the Earlham Track and Field MVP. Wertman still holds the program record for the shot put both indoors (53’ 9-½”) and outdoors (53’ 6-½”).
