Earlham College

As a senior, Eleanor “Ellie” Bewley received the award as the Earlham College Girl of the Year. She played field hockey, tennis and basketball all four years. Ellie was a campus leader as President of the Women’s Recreation Association. Moving to California, she taught and coached at La Serna High School for five years. Ellie has spent the last 20 years at Rio Hondo College in Whittier. She was head coach of the women’s tennis for 14 years and became Director of Athletics in 1988. Ellie is one of just three female athletic directors in the California community college system of more than 100 institutions of higher education.
