Jerry Banks was considered the preeminent shooting guard of the Del Harris era at Earlham College. During the 1970-71 season he led the Quakers in scoring as the team, which is already in the Earlham Athletics Hall of Fame, posted a 24-5 record. That year the Quakers won the Hoosier-Buckeye Conference Championship, the NAIA District 21 title and made an appearance in the national tournament.

The 1972 graduate is currently fifth on Earlham’s all-time scoring list with 1,707 points and was All-HBCC in 1972. Although the mark was broken in the late 1970s, Banks held the Earlham record for points in a game with 45. Banks was also a member of Earlham’s baseball team and earned the George Van Dyke Athlete Achievement Award as a senior.
