An All-State quarterback at Wabash College in 1952, Jerry Huntsman brought his shrewdness for the game to Earlham when he became head football coach nine years later. Over the next three seasons his teams had a 29-3-0 record, piling up a national reputation along with the wins. In 1963, Huntsman was named National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics District Coach of the Year. Huntsman retired as football coach from Indiana State University in 1983. His Father, Owen, was inducted into the Earlham Athletic Hall of Fame posthumously in 1991.
