Having earned a total of 12 varsity letters in football, basketball, track and volleyball, he received the George Van Dyke Award for outstanding contribution to Earlham athletics in 1957. After graduation, Clark continued his involvement in athletics through coaching. The state’s sportswriters, broadcasters and the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association named Clark the Coach of the Year in 1977.
