Kevin L. Handley is an accomplished educator, coach, and community leader whose career reflects the values of leadership, service, and resiliency that define Earlham College. With more than 20 years of experience in education, he currently serves as founding partner of the Impact Youth Center in Richmond, Indiana, where he leads programs dedicated to youth development, mentorship, and community engagement.
A native of Gary, Indiana, and graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, Handley was a four-year starter on the Earlham College football team and a one year member of the baseball team. Beyond athletics, he was deeply involved in campus life through Student Government, the Black Leadership Action Confederation, and WECI Campus Radio, exemplifying Earlham's commitment to leadership and service.
During his senior season, Handley served as co-captain of the football team and was recognized as one of the North Coast Athletic Conference's top defensive players, earning Second Team All-NCAC honors. He was selected to participate in the National College Football All-Star Team on two occasions and, in 1997, received the prestigious Shane Smith Award, recognizing his leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Quaker football program.
Over his four-year career (1994–1997), Handley established himself as one of Earlham's most productive defensive players, finishing with 235 total tackles, 36.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and eight pass breakups. His combination of toughness, consistency, and ability to create game-changing plays made him a cornerstone of the Quaker defense throughout his collegiate career.
Following graduation in 1998, Handley returned to Earlham as an assistant football coach and Director of Multicultural Recruitment, where he recruited, mentored, and supported prospective and current students while continuing to invest in the Earlham community.
Today, Handley continues to impact young people through education and athletics. He serves as an educator at Dennis Middle School and as the Head Girls Wrestling Coach at Richmond High School, where he founded and leads the school's girls wrestling program. He holds a Master of Education degree, is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, and serves as Chair of the Ivy Tech Community College Richmond Campus Board of Trustees.
