A superb field hockey athlete at Earlham, the Medford, N.J., native was a team captain and letter winner as a sophomore, junior and senior. Marian Haines Barclay-Miller also participated in basketball, reached the semifinals of the Tennis Singles Championship, was a driving force in the equestrian program and earned a Life Saving Certificate under the guidance of Bud Weber. Barclay-Miller was a member of the E Club for four years, the EE Club for three years, and the EC Club for two years. She served two years on the W.A.A. Board and was its vice-president as a senior. After graduation from Earlham, Barclay-Miller began a teaching career at Westtown Friends School and raised three children.
