Richard “Dick” Otto was an honorable mention all-American soccer recipient as a junior and a senior at Earlham. The four-year letterman garnered first-team all-Midwest Collegiate Soccer Conference honors and all-Midwest recognition in 1955. A co-captain at Earlham, Otto participated in the 1955 and the 1959 Pan American games tryouts. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Earlham, he earned a master’s degree in education and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Connecticut. Otto began his professional career in education as an English teacher and soccer coach at Council Rock (PA) High School, then served as a guidance counselor and school psychologist for the Ellington (CT) Public Schools. H was also an administrator for special education for the East Lyme (CT) Public Schools. At the time of induction, Dick and his wife Carole were residing in Deep River, Conn.
