As a senior co-captain of the 1961 Quaker football team, Taylor Jones earned a Little All-America honorable mention. A four-year letterman in two sports, he played offensive guard and defensive linebacker in football. In track, Jones threw the discus and shot put in addition to running the 440-yard relay. He continued his education at the University of Illinois Institute of Industrial/Labor Relations and earned a J.D. from Northern Kentucky University. Professionally, he has served as an arbitrator, mediator, hearing officer and negotiator in the public and private sectors. Principal at the law firm of Jones, Washington Co., L.P.A., since 1986, Jones has specialized in labor, higher education, health and real estate law. He has served as special counsel to four different attorney generals in Ohio for higher education institutions. An active community member in Dayton, Ohio, Jones worked to establish outreach programs for disadvantaged children in the Richmond community. Jones was co-founder and chair of the Earlham African-American Advisory Board and became a member of the Earlham Board of Trustees.
