Baseball Hosts Oberlin For Pair of Games Sunday



RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College baseball team hosts Oberlin College for a doubleheader at Sadler Stadium on Sunday. Opening pitch is slated for noon.

The Teams: Earlham and Oberlin. The Quakers stand at 1-3 on the season after a 20-11 victory over Olivet College in the home opener on Saturday. The Yeomen are 2-0 after outscoring Berea College 29-1 in a doubleheader. Oberlin faces Calvin College in a doubleheader on Friday.

The Coaches: Steve Sakosits is in his seventh season leading the Earlham baseball program. A coach of 38 All-HCAC honorees, Sakosits is the program's all-time leader in career victories and has led the Quakers to the HCAC Tournament the past two seasons. Adrian Abrahamowicz is in his seventh season as head baseball coach at Oberlin.

Hitters to Watch: Freshman Isaiah Shake leads the team in batting average at a .500 clip while fellow freshman Danny Dopp has a .412 batting average and six RBIs. Senior Eric Elkus leads the squad in RBIs with 11 and home runs with three. Brian Carney has a team-high seven RBIs and a .833 batting average through two games this season.

Pitchers to Watch: Freshman Austin Green and junior Dorian Holmes are the two Quaker pitchers with ERAs under 4.00. Freshman Jordan Christian, who started the Quakers' home-opener on Wednesday, has six strikeouts in 7.2 innings. Zachary Steer and Sean Kiley are both 1-0 for the Yeomen and have 0.00 ERAs.

Recent History: Earlham swept Oberlin in a three-game series in 2015, the year the Yeomen made the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. The Quakers won 14-8, 24-4, and 6-5.
