RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College junior Walter Talcott was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday, after a dominating performance during the previous week in a win over Washington College (Md.)
Talcott fanned five Washington College batters and scattered five hits in a complete game performance while pitching the Quakers to a 3-0 victory over the Shoremen, in the first game of Earlham's spring break slate in Fort Pierce, Fla.
Talcott held the Shoremen to a .152 opponent batting average, and did not allow a Washington College baserunner to advance past second base after the third inning. He also retired the Shoremen in order in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to clinch the victory.
Earlham baseball returns to action on Tuesday, March 20, when it travels to Tiffin, Ohio, to face Heidelberg University. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
