RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College men's basketball senior forward Darrell Hutchison Jr. (Indianapolis, Ind./Crispus Attucks) and sophomore guard Jamel Barnes (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) were each named to the All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) teams, which were unveiled on Wednesday.
Both Hutchison and Barnes were Honorable Mention picks to the All-HCAC squad.
Hutchison led the Quakers with 14.5 points per game, and he was ranked eighth in the HCAC in scoring. He shot 46.6 percent (132-of-283) from the floor, ranked 19th in the HCAC in field goal percentage, and hauled down 4.9 rebounds per game during the 2018-19 season. He scored in double-digits on 18 occasions, and netted a season-high 28 points against Franklin (2/2).
Hutchison finished his career with 924 points over 64 games played.
Barnes scored an average of 11.9 points in 2018-19, and was one of the Quakers' top perimeter scoring threats with 32 three-point field goals. He charted 14 double-digit scoring performances, and recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds against Hanover (1/9). Barnes tallied 74 assists (3.2 per game), seventh among HCAC leaders in assists, and 30 steals (1.3 per game), ninth in the HCAC.
Senior guard Jacob Mosher (Orlando, Fla./Shattuck St. Mary's, Minn.) was Earlham's representative on the Christopher M. Ragsdale Sportsmanship Team. Mosher saw action in five games during the 2018-19 season.
Earlham men's basketball finished the 2018-19 with an 8-17 overall record. The Quakers' 7-11 mark in the HCAC marked the most conference wins for Earlham since the 2005-06 campaign, when the Maroon and White went 9-7 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
