Men’s golf tied for seventh after rd. 1 at Transy Fall Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Earlham College men's golf led all five competing Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) teams and was tied for seventh overall following Saturday's first round at the 2019 Transylvania Fall Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky.

Saturday's second round was halted due to thunder and lightning with a handful of golfers still on the course. The second round will be completed on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 8 a.m., followed by round 3 starting at 9 a.m.

The Quakers carded a 12-over 300 on Saturday, and were tied with Ohio Wesleyan University in seventh place. Transylvania (312, +24) was 12th on the team leaderboard, followed by 13th-place Rose-Hulman (313, +245), 15th-place Franklin (319, +31), and 16th-place Mount St. Joseph (323, +35).

Wittenberg leads the field of 16 teams with an even-par 288.

Individually, Jared Stone finished the first round in a 10-way tie for 10th place with a one-over 73. Garrett Schuler was also among the top 20 and ties with a two-over 74.

Graham Sherard fired a four-over 76 and was tied for 32nd, while Jared Birr carded a five-over 77 and was tied for 41st. Brevin Smith shot a 12-over 84 and was tied for 80th.
