RICHMOND, Indiana - Wilson Freije's goal in the 60th minute proved to be the game-winner that lifted the College of Wooster over the Earlham College men's soccer team 1-0 at Matlack-Messer Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Fighting Scots earned a series of four corner kicks midway through the second half. The Quakers' defense thwarted the first three, but Austin Russell's fourth corner kick found the head of Freije who beat Earlham goalkeeper, freshman Chima Ndukwu, for the game's only goal.
Earlham's best scoring chance came early in the second half when a shot from senior Nicholas Dey trickled just wide.
Despite picking up the loss, Ndukwu saved six of the seven shots he faced over 90 minutes.
The Quakers (0-5-0) will host Wilmington College in the Quaker Bowl rivalry on Wednesday.
