RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College men's soccer team continues its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) slate on Saturday when the Quakers travel to Mount St. Joseph University (MSJ). Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Mount St. Joseph. The Quakers are 1-9-0 on the season and 1-1-0 in the conference after a 4-0 loss at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Wednesday. The Lions are 3-7-2 overall and have opened HCAC play with a pair of 2-1 defeats.
The Coaches: Sam Byrd enters his third season as head men's soccer coach at his alma mater. The 2003 alumnus, who led the Quakers to the HCAC Tournament berth in 2015, served as an assistant coach for longtime head coach Roy Messer for two seasons prior to being promoted to head coach in May of 2015. Rudy Argueta is in his 11th season with the MSJ men's soccer program including nine years as head coach.
The Players: Seniors Vojislav Tatarevic and Nicholas Dey lead the Quakers' offense with seven points each while sophomore Micha Roland has scored two goals and freshman Drew Fitzgibbon one. Four Quakers have dished out one assist. Austin Webb leads the Engineers with eight points including three goals and two assists. Seth Freppon has scored six goals for the Lions' offense.
HCAC Honors: Micah Roland is the reigning HCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals in the Quakers 3-1 win over Bluffton on Saturday.
Recent History: Earlham is 4-2-1 against Mount St. Joseph since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Lions did win last year's meeting, however, a 1-0 win in Richmond.
