RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's tennis team begins the 2016 spring season on Friday as the Quakers host Otterbein University in Dayton, Ohio. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
Earlham returns five players from a team that finished third in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) with a 6-2 record. Overall, the Quakers finished 11-10.
Sophomore Vitalii Stadnyk returns having played first singles for the Quakers the entire season last year. Stadnyk lost just one match in conference play, in the HCAC Tournament finals, and was named the league's Most Valuable Player and Freshman of the Year. Along with Stadnyk, senior Jack Ventura Cruess and freshman Gleb Babikov garnered All-HCAC recognition.
Otterbein claimed a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) championship last season. The Cardinals return their top player, Will Wilson, who went 9-7 at first singles last season.
Earlham returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 16, for a 5 p.m. match at Wabash.
