Men's Tennis Opens Spring Trip Monday

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's tennis team opens its spring trip to Florida on Monday. The Quakers will face Springfield (Mass.) on Monday, Hamilton (N.Y.) on Tuesday, Calvin (Mich.) on Wednesday, and Franklin & Marshall (Pa.) on Thursday.

The Teams: Earlham, Springfield, Hamilton, Calvin, and Franklin & Marshall. The Quakers are 3-4 on the season having swept Hundington on March 5. The Continentals are 2-1 after a 5-4 win over St. Lawrence. The Knights are 3-1 on the season after an 8-1 win over Dubuque while the Diplomats are also 2-1 and have won two straight victories.

The Coaches: Justin Roe is in his second season as head men's tennis coach at Earlham. He led the Quakers to an 11-10 record last season and a berth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament finals. Chad Stoloff is in his first year as head coach at Springfield. Rob Barr enters his fifth season as head men's and women's tennis coach at Hamilton. John Ross is in his 13th season as head coach at Calvin. Sean Kelleher is in his eighth season as head coach at Franklin & Marshall.

The Players: Senior Jack Ventura-Cruess and sophomore Vitalii Stadnyk lead Earlham with a 6-1 record at first doubles. The two have combined for six singles victories as well. Tanner DeVarennes leads Springfield with a victory at first singles. Jonathan Cohen has a 1-0 record at third singles for Hamilton. Matt Buesing is 2-0 at first singles for Calvin while Doug Kaplan leads Franklin & Marshall with two wins in both singles and doubles.
