ORLANDO, Fla. – The Earlham College men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Hamilton College (N.Y.) on Tuesday in the second of four matches on the Quakers' spring break trip.
Senior Jack Ventura-Cruess and sophomore Vitalii Stadnyk rebounded from a loss yesterday to defeat Alex Streich and Devin White 9-7 at first doubles. The Continentals won both second and third doubles by a score of 8-5 and led 2-1 after doubles competition.
Stadnyk, the reigning Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, won his second match of the day, defeating Max McKee-Proctor 6-0, 6-3 at first singles. Similar to yesterday's loss to Springfield, both sophomore Vojislav Tatarevic and Ventura-Cruess won their fifth and sixth singles matches in straight sets. Hamilton took the match by winning second, third, and fourth singles.
Earlham is 3-6 on the season and will attempt to get back to winning ways at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) against Calvin College (Mich.).
