Men's Tennis Bounces Back with 8-1 Win Over Manchester


RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's tennis team rebounded from a loss on Saturday to defeat Manchester University 8-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action at on Sunday.

Senior Jack Ventura-Cruess and sophomore Vitalii Stadnyk improved to 15-5 on the year with an 8-1 win over Stratton Smith and Spencer Thomas at first doubles. Sophomore Adam Schwartz and freshman Adarsh Singh won second doubles 8-3 over Isaac Collis and Kyler Love. Sophomore Vojislav Tatarevic and freshman Nicola Manni won their 11thdfd doubles match of the season with an 8-2 win at third doubles.

In singles, Stadnyk, Manni, Tatarevic, and Ventura-Cruess won first, fifth, and sixth singles respectively surrendering no more than three games in any set. Singh also won in straight sets at second singles, edging Thomas 7-5, 6-4.

The Spartans won their lone match point with a three-set win at fourth singles.

The Quakers are 11-9 overall and 5-1 in HCAC competition. Earlham will face Anderson University on the road tomorrow (Monday) at 4 p.m.
