RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's tennis team travels to Anderson University for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contest on Monday. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Anderson. The Quakers are 11-9 overall after a win over Manchester University yesterday (Sunday). The Ravens are 1-5 overall after a 6-1 win at Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday.
The Coaches: Justin Roe is in his second season as head men's tennis coach at Earlham. He led the Quakers to an 11-10 record last season and a berth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament finals. Bryant Beard is in his first season as head coach at Anderson.
The Players: Reigning HCAC Most Valuable Player and Freshman of the Year Vitalii Stadnyk has a 15-5 record at first singles and a 15-5 record at first doubles, along with senior Jack Ventura-Cruess. Sophomore Vojislav Tatarevic leads the Quakers with 17 singles wins, primarily at fifth singles. Zachary Van Duyn leads the Ravens with three singles wins.
Singles and Doubles Team Stats: Earlham is 76-46 in singles competition as a team and 39-21 in doubles. Anderson is 10-22 in singles and 4-14 in doubles.
HCAC Player of the Week Honors: Tatarevic earned HCAC men's tennis player of the week last week. He went 3-0 in both singles and doubles in leading Earlham to conference wins over Mount St. Joseph, Franklin, and Transylvania.
HCAC Tournament Seeding Implications: Earlham can clinch at least the No. 2 seed with wins over Anderson and Hanover. With a win over Anderson, the Quaker can finish no more than fourth in the conference.
Recent History: Earlham has not lost to Anderson since joining the HCAC prior to the 2011 season.
