Men's Tennis Ends Season With Loss to Transylvania in HCAC Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Earlham College men's tennis team saw its 2015-16 season come to an end with a 5-2 loss to Transylvania University in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers won first doubles as sophomores Vitalii Stadnyk and Vojislav Tatarevic defeated Robert Albrecht and Dylan Connor 8-6. The Pioneers (8-6) won second and third doubles 8-4 and 8-0 respectively.

Stadnyk evened the match 2-2 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Albrecht at first singles. The victory marked Stadnyk's 18th singles win of the season.

Transylvania, the No. 3 seed for the HCAC Tournament, won sixth singles 6-1, 6-0 and second singles 6-2, 7-5. The Pioneers clinched the match at fourth singles as Joshua Buckman defeated Adam Schwartz 7-5, 6-1.

Due to the match being played to decision, third and fifth singles did not finish.

Earlham concludes its season at 12-11 overall. The Quakers were the No. 2 seed for the HCAC Tournament.
