RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College men's tennis team hosts Trine University and Indiana Institute of Technology this Sunday. The Quakers will play Trine at 10:00 a.m. before taking on Indiana Tech at 3:00 p.m.
The Tri-Match: Earlham, Trine and Indiana Tech. Earlham is coming off a strong showing in their season opener where they defeated Miami Middletown 9-0. Trine is scheduled to play their first match this Saturday before traveling to Earlham. Indiana Tech will open their season against the Quakers.
The Coaches: Shawn Hyden is in his second season as head men's tennis coach at Earlham. In his first season with the program, Hyden led the Quakers to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament finals for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. Second year head coach Erin Kolar leads the way for Trine. In her debut season, she led the Thunder to a 10-9 record. Brandt Daniels enters into his third season as the head coach for Indiana Tech. In his first two seasons, the Thunder has gone a combined 17-19.
The Players: Earlham's freshman duo Hyunseong Ahn and Brandon Giordanelli made their college debut this Friday with convincing victories against Miami Middletown. Senior Vitalii Stadnyk picked up a singles victory in the season opener, putting him one step closer to the career singles wins record.
The History: Earlham picked up victories over Trine and Indiana Tech this past season. The Quakers defeated the Thunder 8-1 and defeated the Warriors 7-2 last season
