NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Earlham College men's tennis team improved to 9-7 overall and 2-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 9-0 shutout over Manchester University, Saturday afternoon in North Manchester, Ind.
AGAINST THE SPARTANS
The Quakers took their matches at no. 1 and no. 2 doubles by 8-0 scores, with all three Earlham doubles duos coming away with victories.
In singles play, Earlham won by straight sets at nos. 1 through 5 singles. Only the match at no. 6 singles required any extra tennis, with Elijah Sadler finally putting away Manchester's Andrew Kibler, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) with a second-set tiebreaker.
Earlham men's tennis has a second road match this weekend as it heads to Denison University in Granville, Ohio, to face John Carroll University in a neutral-site match. Start time is 12:00 p.m.
The Quakers then close out the 2019 season with five of their final six matches at home, starting with an HCAC match against Defiance College on Wednesday, April 10, at 4:30 p.m.
